A single raindrop does not make a pool. A single house does not make a community. And a single tree does not make a forest. Take “a single tree” to mean one person and “a forest” to mean many people. Thus, the proverb means one person alone cannot accomplish as much as many people. It speaks of the power of teamwork! Teamwork works!! One great advantage of being a part of a ‘forest’ as opposed to being a stand alone ‘tree’ is that in a team or group where or when one is weak, someone is strong. So there is supplementing or complementing of one another. Of course it doesn’t mean we should devalue the importance of any single tree. Remember, If you chop down every ‘single’ tree, you will no longer have a forest. A good team leader is one who is able to harness and coordinate the abilities of the people on his or her team. To do this he or she keeps the group picture in mind while focusing on each person. He thinks globally but acts locally. Be holistic !
