On their visit to Music Hall, the kids learned what a champcha instrument is!
The chajcha, also known as the chapcha, is a small percussion instrument made from goat or sheep hooves or toenails that originated in the Central Andes. The hooves or toenails are strung onto a cloth bracelet and used in traditional rituals and ceremonies, as well as in the folk music of Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, and other countries in the region. The gentle tapping sound of the chajcha is similar to rain.
